Switch over to BBC1 for the BBC National Weahter and according to them at present we have some "light rain"... some "sunny intervals".... and "light winds". No mention of fog.... I can't even see the Tyne Bridge on Look North! Rolling Eyes

That could be because the new-look BBC weather doesn't include any kind of graphical representation of fog, so maybe it's easier just not to mention it now.

Incidentally, the weather graphics broke down this morning on Breakfast, so Carol Kirkwood was did at least two bulletins (that I saw) with no graphics at all. Simon McCoy asked her, "Where are your maps... which our viewers love so much?"

There is a graphical representation of fog. It looks like six feet of snow. So does a light frost.

Well on a number of occasions I've seen weather presenters talking about fog and pointing to a certain area, but there's been nothing on the map to signify it. Is it one of those things like the lightning graphics which we saw in the previews on the web, but are notably absent now?

It seemed to take a surprisingly long time for the system to reboot - I think World missed out on the morning's prerecorded forecasts too, and had to make do with the overnight ones repeated again.

The maps came back halfway through the 8:30am forecast.

yeap a number of times when thunderstorms were forecast, no lightning graphics Sad wondering if they will ever use them. The only time you see the lightning is in the outlook slides (those animated boxes) but not on the main map.

Before you had a big yellow spark symbol showing when thunder was likely, now I presume that when you see a yellow patch where the rain is falling, that indicates a thunderstorm, no as exciting.

Also no graphics for hail either, something which they will probably need more of in winter time.

Just saw the News 24 forecast, and they seem to have changed the colour of the land from yellow to green. Checked the last few pages, and it doesn't seem to have come up here before...then again, seeing as it's 2.30 in the morning, I may have missed them.

Looks as muddy as ever on the 2.55am forecast.

mmm looks like the new graphics are having a trauma again, just watched Dan Corbets forcast just before 6 on News 24 and the animation was really jumpy, especially on the tour, no smooth animation at all, just parts of the country jumping past very eratically. seemed like the computer running the software was overloaded or running a very heavy virus scan! The graphics also failed on the 0615 forcast on Breakfast, must to the annoyance of Louise Lear(sp?)

Have they tweaked them again or are you talking about how the forecast looks generally?

No, they have tweaked them. The progress of the rain seems more smooth and less jerky - looks better in my opinion.

BTW, did anyone see Helen Willets' bulletin sometime last week when there was a new opening page. Sorry I haven't mention it sooner but forgot to post it until now. Embarassed
I haven't seen this since though - but from what she said, it was a look at the world weather. Anyone know any more?

(Apologies if this has already been discussed)
