i wonder if perhaps the automation built into the software is designed to cut down on the number of meteorologically trained staff the bbc need to employ.
both shefali and simon on midlands today have had to apologise for the software being unable to display the forecast properly - with bands of rain in the wrong place etc, and also the perspective on the map at bbc mids is awful, its as if you’re looking up the bristol channel towards the midlands.
Staying on the Midlands (or not as the map does...) - I notice that Birmingham appearing on the map seems to be a bit hit and miss. Also the flyround has once again returned to the awful breakneck speed and it's impossible to see the weather for anywhere such as Birmingham as when it flys down South the presenter is standing over the region and when it goes back up North it's off the screen.
It's still awful - the new tilt is even worse and I'm none the wiser.
Come on BBC - surely you can do a bit better than this!?
We're now back to nearly 2D on the overshot (but not quite as a face saving measure for all responsible for wasting £1m of licence fee payers money), but incredibly zoomed out.
I'm sure the French approve of the new forecast.
Why oh why not simply zoom in a bit more- just like it was before the relaunch.
We had a 3D flyover (far more impressive than the current look) with the old look, and a better 2D summary look.
Style over substance. And they STILL can't get even make it look stylish.

Heads must roll over this.
The old look was better? Do you have a clue about good presentation and the modern world?

Yes and Yes.
If you're thinking from a purely presentational point of view, the old look was miles superior.
Green land and Blue sea- both beautifully textured.
Now we have poorly textured brown dull land and a monochromic blue sea that could have been coloured in by a 5 year old.
The old maps had clouds that looked like clouds, and symbols that were presentationally iconic (as well as clear).
The new look has a dodgy (1980s style) 3D effect that even the most generous would have to admit is poorly rendered. They haven't even anti-alised the horizon.
The new time/day graphic was clearly designed in 30 seconds using the preformed shapes option of a design program (frankly it could have been MS Paint)
The old look had a well integrated bar that didn't intrude on the map, therefore allowing it to be zoomed in to the point of functional usefulness.
Need I go on?
The only presentational triumph of the new graphics is the silde used for sporting events- the irony is of course that it uses a symbol.
Presentationally and functionally, the new graphics are nothing short of a disaster.
Of course in the grand scheme of things, it's only the weather so people will forget the old style and work around the new one.
But it still can't hide two basic truths
- it's a regression for BBC Weather
- it's an extraordinary waste of licence fee payers money, for which people should be held responsible.
Shutup, if you had a braind, you would realise that the new graphics are far much better than the old ones. The old ones are blaned, very outdated and boring. The new ones are modern, exciting and better looking. Then again, outdated people may not take my point of view.

Aahhhh...I long for the day that I will have a braind. Perhaps I should go and see the Wizard of Oz.

Goodness, is it half term already?
With a "blaned" "braind" like yours, you really should be asking for some extra "special" help.
