There's also lots of fuss in the Look North Hull region. They've managed to miss off a part of the region. Forgetting that Belmont serves North Norfolk

The map is greener. There you go. Can we move on now?

Honestly, what's to say now that you've pointed out it's a different colour?

I think it's more likely a side effect of the screen used on the Six. The contrast always seems to have been cranked right up. Certainly under the previous graphics set, the green was a hell of a lot darker and the yellows on the temperature circles were incredibly rich, while the day/time bar at the bottom of the screen - usually a deep teal on most forecasts - was almost black under that graphics set.

Having watched various other bulletins throughout the day, I've certainly not seen any hint of green on the land, except when they do the temperature change overlay - but that's a minty green gradiating into yellows where it's warmer.

It seems the Northern Isles are never going to get their weather in any detail.... I'd bet we'll get some angry complaints from up there!

Well, the Western Isles were first to complain!

The BBC's new weather map has caused a political storm with the Scottish National Party claiming it gives a "distorted" view of Scotland.

New 3-D television weather forecast graphics began on Monday but the SNP MP for the Western Isles, Angus MacNeil, called for the BBC to think again. He said the map makes it more difficult for people in the north and the islands to get an accurate forecast. The graphic shows the UK from a southerly perspective.

Mr MacNeil has put down his first Early Day Motion at Westminster calling on the BBC to rethink the new weather graphics.

To be honest, I think Wales has more to complain about than Scotland does - the view always swoops very quickly over Wales, and usually ends up holding over Northern Ireland for a very long time. But then the Welsh don't have quite the same identity crisis and complex that Scotland does, so they don't feel quite the same need to kick up such a huge stink. Yet.

Incidentally, we were just treated to Dan Corbett dancing and waving his arms into the weather on N24 following the British Army "Armadillo" spoof video package. Great stuff.

Well at least the whole of Wales is shown! Shetland is a tiny dot at the very top of the map!

This isn't a case of the Scots getting their knickers in a knot because of some nationalist issue - I simply want a clearer map on the forecast. To use a needlessly squewed image of the UK making things *less* clear is nonsensical.

But thanks for making me feel like somehow it's my own personal identity crisis at fault.
