I think many people might think the blue bits on the map indicating rain are flooded areas.

It seems a bit of an exaggeration for them to talk about dumping the classic symbols when they're still very much in evidence on BBCi text and on bbc.co.uk weather summaries!

Not unless the people you know are much less intelligent than the people I know.

Believe me there are people stupid enough to make that mistake, including many elderly people.

Nice to see the BBC Weather website have updated the Weather Player to fit in with the new look player style.

Whether you meant to or not, you've just branded all elderly people as 'stupid'.

Perhaps you should be more careful with what you write.

Well so far I have no access to the BBC british services, but on World it dosen't look that bad, but I still much prefer the old symbols, it's more instantly understandable.

Yes, 'ignorant' would have been a far more accurate word!

John Kettley is this morning's forecaster on Five Live, he says he likes the graphics overall but says the map should be green. He also says that because no one's mentioned the wind all morning in any tv forecast they've missed the major weather feature of today which is the noticable drop in temperature caused by a strong northerly wind.

One thing that the BBC is still missing out on in the new look is the fact that Canberra is the capital of Australia.

A search on their website for Canberra shows the forecast but on the new weather graphics and on the map of Australia on the BBC Weather site, Canberra is still left off.

And be glad the graphics aren't just blue (the ABC here in Australia made all of their weather maps different shades of blue. It looks horrible).
