Sian reigns supreme...again!

Sian Lloyd has won the prestigious 2007 Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) award for the best TV weather presenter. The award recognises excellence in broadcast media.

Sian joined the ITV weather team in 1990 and after meteorological training at the Met Office was soon on the winning track - picking up the Presenter's Prize at the International Weather Forecasters Festival in Paris in 1993.

Sian was thrilled to receive the award saying, "It's an honour to have one's work acknowledged by the broadcast industry and it rewards all the hard work of my wider team."

The Met Office provides a first-class forecast service to ITV National Weather and Met Office graphics and forecasts are also provided for ITV's regional weather bulletins.

This is Sian's second success in the award, having won in 2005 (after a previous nomination in 2004) and underlines ITV's weather presenter as the industry's favourite.

The nominees included last year's winner, Met Office forecaster and BBC weather presenter Helen Willetts.

Sympathy vote for being dumped by Lemsip Oatcake !

No, only messing. She's a fine weather broadcaster, who deserves the award. When she gets the weather right of course Wink

Never been a big fan of Sian I'm afraid. I find her a bit sickly, and all that over-elaborate, unnecessary hand twirling she does really gets on my nerves.

She can be a bit over-elborate admittedly Laughing Who would Spencer for Hire prefer to have won that award, just out of interest? Smile

I was glad last year that Helen WIlletts won - she's friendly and warm but without the Sian Lloyd-esque flouncing or the manic shriekiness of Carol Kirkwood.

I've always been a fan of Dan Corbett, but I think he has the 'Marmite' effect on people so probably wouldn't win. I also think Rob McElwee is great - he actually explains the weather and makes it interesting, but he's probably not high-profile enough these days.

On balance, I'd probably plump for Alex Deakin - friendly and presentable, but no-nonsense.

Has Helen Willetts given birth yet?

It always seems to be the young male presenters who are best at presenting the weather - Alex Deakin, Chris Fawkes and John Hammond are some of the best IMO. But then again, no-one will quite beat the Fish-meister himself (that is in getting their forecasts wrong at the most inconvenient times, hurricane etc).

Wasn't even a mistake. Michael was refering to a hurricane hitting Florida but the infamous clip has forever been connected with our storm that night.
