Dear oh dear! Tori Lacey "promoted" to the BBC1 One O'Clock News. She just makes me squirm with embarassment at her sugariness.

There was a new forecaster on BBC1 this weekend, Friday's Six I think - and he's very much in the Daniel Corbett mould (though not as great, obviously). I think he was called Sean Batty (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/bbcweather/forecasters/sean_batty.shtml) and he had a Scottish accent... anyone else notice him?

Yes he floats around the regions abit when required and I quite like him - he was great on Look North breakfast - much better than Lisa Gallagher IMO.

BBC weatherman under cloud
What a shower. The BBC came in for a cyclone of criticism yesterday after a weatherman described the Western Isles as "nowheresville".

Viewers complained after Tomasz Schafernaker used the description during two weather bulletins at the weekend.

I'd just like to apologise on behalf of all right-minded Scottish people for a) the humourless morons who complained (if anyone actually did - God knows there's probably no-one living up there) and b) the politically opportunistic crap from the SNP. It is the middle of sodding nowhere. Still, that'll teach the presenter for having a personality.

I actually reckon BBC Scotland pays far too much heed to 'nowheresville' areas at the best of times - no doubt this nonsense will be used as an example of why they have to do that. Rolling Eyes

I would also like to second that statement! The west highlands is nowhereville trust me I've been there!

I think it's quite funny considering the contrived attempts that the BBC weather team always make to sound like they're 'everywhere'. It really bugs me (admittedly rather irrationally) when they refer to each place they mention as "here".

I'm presuming it's an SNP rule to pop up with annoying nationalist complaints when humorous comments are involved.

I loved Tomasz Schafernaker's antics this morning on one of his forecasts, he had to quickly rein himself in, no doubt much hilarity in the weather centre, bearing in mind his recent comments about "nowheresville"

"Large band of rain moving across the country, where it's looking dull in Hull...not that Hull itself is dull, very nice place, rather the weather conditions will be quite dull..."

Good save! He's such a good weather presenter, one of the more refreshing of the current BBC crop, always seems to do a good job, and good to see he's keeping on his toes!

Oh dear oh dear.. isn't there a kinda of rule to never discuss what you don't want people to know in front of a camera (even if it's "off") Laughing
