I imagine that the regions will adopt the same look for there weather forcasts at the same time, because when the current look was adopted it was launched across the BBC on the same day.

This isn't just a new look though. It's a pretty radical shift in presentation, which will require a lot of training for the BBC Weather presenters to make sure they get used to it. They're all used to pointing up and down a 2D map. In 'Storm', the fly-past 'camera' will do the job of focusing attention on certain areas.

And it's not just a question of training. The new system requires expensive new equipment to be installed. I may be wrong, but I suspect it will be staggered in over a few months, beginning on the National, then to N24 and WORLD, and finally dripping down to the Nations and Regions. I imagine they'd want to initially showcase it as an exciting new system on the National first.

But as I say, I may be wrong...!

I read that the whole system will be installed on one day. There's nothing that says expensive computer equiptment is needed - the article says all that is needed is a high-spec computer (e.g. 64-bit system, not too expensive).

Why is there the presumption that this will suddenly arrive at television centre in a small white box, 2 hours before the one o'clock news???
I dare say that the beeb is already installing, retraining staff in use of this new equitment. This will take time for the team to get used to the adjustments but all of this can be done behind closed doors, then walllaaa, One day, lets just say January 10th, whole new weather system comes online.
Just thinking... Twisted Evil
