This isn't just a new look though. It's a pretty radical shift in presentation, which will require a lot of training for the BBC Weather presenters to make sure they get used to it. They're all used to pointing up and down a 2D map. In 'Storm', the fly-past 'camera' will do the job of focusing attention on certain areas.
And it's not just a question of training. The new system requires expensive new equipment to be installed. I may be wrong, but I suspect it will be staggered in over a few months, beginning on the National, then to N24 and WORLD, and finally dripping down to the Nations and Regions. I imagine they'd want to initially showcase it as an exciting new system on the National first.
But as I say, I may be wrong...!
