That'll be Mr. Jake Humphreys.

Jake Humphrey doing Question Time? That'd be like asking David Dimbleby to present Formula 1! Not something I'd wish to see. Cant see JH doing QT in a million years. I would have thought Jeremy Vine, Andrew Neil, Nick Robinson and Jon Sopel would all be more likely contenders.

I guess WillPS is suggesting Jake after his stint presenting "Free Speech" on BBC Three? I agree that the names you suggest would all be credible - and I think Jake is moving in a different direction (Rick Edwards has now taken over Free Speech)

Neil would be good, but obviously wouldn't be able to continue with This Week which would be a great shame. From what I've seen of Vine (therefore excluding his radio work) he makes a better analyst/ reporter than he does a presenter, so I wouldn't be overly keen on that. Sopel would be undoubtedly great, but Robinson would have my vote.

*Waits for Eddie Mair's name to come up...*

Jeremy Paxman, Nick Robinson, Jeremy Vine, Clive Holland, Jeremy Clarkson, Anthony Davis, Andy Hodgson - all of those people would be better hosts of Question time than Eddie Mair. I would refuse to watch Question Time if he were the host.

Reading between the lines of tweets from a couple of our insiders, I get the feeling Vine is going to be in Studio 2 at ITN, which might mean Huw is in A?

ITN's studio will be in use, as will Studio A, but I think the bulk of the output will be from Millbank.

(Plus also a production hub in a building which people keep on telling me is closed...)

Complete with washed out pictures. Wink

Yesterday's rugby feed from 24.5w had the id Satlinks TVC or something like that, it shows TVC is well and truly alive. Very Happy

The BBC's CAR/CCA and SatOps operations are still very much based at TVC. AIUI most live shows (outside of News) still get routed via TVC on their way to Red Bee (NBH has, AIUI, circuits direct to the Broadcast Centre for News programmes)

Also all of the Freesat and Sky DSat uplink operation is still there I believe?

Personally, I think Martha Kearney would be a good choice. I've always enjoyed the rare editions of Any Questions? where she's filled in for David, and she might not be a bad choice politically given the semi-frequent criticism of the gender imbalance amongst both Question Time guests and political presenters.

I'd second that.

Noting there is very little discussion of the BBC's election coverage here or indeed any networks coverage.

yes, I'm sure I keep mentioning this, but some people still seem surprised. Not least the people from Workplace who appeared to have forgotten we might still want things like post deliveries and drinking water.
(The network ID would have been 'SatOps TVC', btw.)

Yep, they do indeed.

Much of it ended up in the wrong thread: http://www.tvforum.co.uk/thenewsroom/bbc-national-news-channel-new-39108/page-93

My money's on Jeremy Vine. They can't just wheel him out during elections, he needs something more consistent. I've always thought he'd be excellent at the helm of QT.
