Then again, the last election was also from BBC World's unused studio, N9, a bit cramped but they made it work, if anything Studio C will be more spacious

Agreed, it's much more spacious. My only problem with studio C is the way it's used by the NC doesn't work particularly well - the newsroom backdrop really lacks depth compared to WN's skyline or studio E's actual newsroom. Hopefully they'll rectify this at some point.

All the more sense to do them as opt outs and for the nations to show something completely different, though of course they could do that even on BBC2.

And they are, Scotland aren't showing any of it.

Same in Northern Ireland . . . we have a mix of antiques, cookery, sewing and nature instead. Although it would make more sense for Scotland and Northern Ireland to somehow opt into the Red Button feed of the snooker. As Brekkie mentioned earlier, its bad enough interrupting a World Championship semi-final for a local election programme. It's even worse for a repeat of The Great British Sewing Bee.

There is no overnight coverage this time, as all counts are being done Friday.

No they aren't. In Hampshire, I know the counts are overnight.

Reading between the lines of tweets from a couple of our insiders, I get the feeling Vine is going to be in Studio 2 at ITN, which might mean Huw is in A?

Pure speculation and probably rubbish but with Edwards presenting - perhaps due to Dimbleby getting Thatcher's funeral? Does seem very odd indeed not to have David D doing it, but then with no overnight show it perhaps isn't as big a deal as it normally is.

it could be as simple as Question Time commitments meaning he's in some far flung part of the country the night before and it's not practical for him to do both?

Could be, but it's not like they haven't known the date for local elections in order to plan that like they would normally do.
