They even produced joint U.S. election night coverage years ago:

*

I strongly think that joint coverage was made specifically for 3sat, that's because the broadcasters that were part of 3sat back in the 1980s were ZDF, ORF and SRG. ARD only joined 3sat in 1993

That clip predates 3sat; it's from the 1970s, when ORF frequently collaborated with ZDF. ORF and SRG would almost almost partner with either ZDF or the ARD system of broadcasters, not both.

Besides, U.S. election nights were aired on ORF proper; if they were also shown on 3sat later on, it was just a simulcast. 3sat is primarily a cultural channel with some news simulcasts.

In this case thank you very much for correcting me!

From 1994, a rare clip from the early days of n-tv, ending with the original opening titles from the channel's evening news programme.

Fans of business news channel CNBC may be interested in this clip from the 3rd anniversary of business show (US) Squawk Box back in 1998. How things have changed...

8th February 2005: TV Breizh (at the time a Brittany-focused channel) reports about a Breton translation of Swiss comic book series Titeuf .

Interestingly, the report itself is in Breton (with subtitles in French) but the news anchor launches the report in both French and Breton.

If I am not wrong this channel was launched for 2 reasons: The first because the then CEO of TF1 Group Patrick Le Lay, was openly inspired by channels like S4C in Wales and TG4 in Ireland and given the fact that Brittany is also a Celtic nation, he wanted to do something similar, and second because by the late 1990s, with the closure of the Lorient submarine base, the city of Lorient experienced a real economic reconversion, so the local municipality sought to attract investments from outside the city to develop new activities...and given that Patrick Le Lay wanted to launch a general-interest channel broadcasting primarily in Breton for TV series and youth programs, for two to three hours a day, and whose editorial line would cover the news of the five Breton departments

Unfortunately the channel never catched on with audiences....in 2003 they failed to get a channel on Digital Terrestrial Television, and with time programmes in Breton started to diminish. In 2006 the news program which you saw in the video above, which lasted 20 minutes was reduced to a simple 6 minute all-picture news program (which was later axed), in 2008 all Breton dubbing of films was stopped, and finally in 2010 all programming in the Breton language completely disappeared. And as a final f*** you to the original reason this channel was launched, in 2012 the Broadcasting Centre in Lorient, from where this channel was broadcast along many other was completely closed and from 2013 TV Breizh now broadcasts from TF1's headquarters in Boulogne-Billancourt in Paris. Today the only Breton thing that this channel has left is it's name....it has literally become a repeats channel that broadcasts TV series that TF1 no longer broadcasts itself.

Well the channel still broadcasts programmes that are originally in a different language to French. Erm...English! There's plenty of CSI padding the schedule.

Well that's the ultimate irony then
