Wich they eventually just replaced with with the news from Austria-only sister channel Puls4.

They do the same on ProSieben as well now.

ProSiebenSat.1 of course took over Puls 4, explaining the decision to merge news operations.

Noteworthy that Sat.1 Fruhstücksfernsehen (Breakfast TV) and ProSieben's morning schedule is substituted on the Austria versions with a simulcast of Puls4's breakfast service.

Not sure if Kabel 1 Doku still also has Puls 4 News updates - it did at launch https://www.ots.at/presseaussendung/OTS_20160919_OTS0092/der-neue-dokusender-kabel-eins-doku-austria-startet-in-oesterreich-mit-exklusiven-4news-updates

I think this is called simultaneous substitution, I know it happens a lot in Canada....seems that it happens in Austria too!

The Austria situation is a result of a voluntary commercial decision, not a regulatory requirement as in Canada.

I have a question about these transnational advertising feeds, since all the examples shown are of private TV channels, this makes me wonder if public broadcasters like France Télévisions' channels have Swiss advertising feeds, and the channels of ARD and ZDF have Swiss and Austrian advertising feeds too

I can answer for France Télévisions and that's a big no.

Same goes for ARD/ZDF, though they tend to do a lot of cooperations with ORF and SRF. Dunno if France Television does a lot of shows with RSI or RTBF outside of TV5Monde.

Though in Canada you have the situation that the Canadian Broadcasters are allowed by law to replace the feed of US networks on cable and satellite if they broadcast the same program simultaniously. So in Canada you have the situation that you watch say CBS and at the beginning of a program the CBS feed suddenly is switched to CTV, a completely different broadcaster.

The situation in Austria is more akin to CBS, NBC, etc. having a Canadian feed of their own that they distribute to cable and satellite providers in Canada.

There have been collaborations with drama series with RTBF, RTS is the French Swiss PSB.

France Télévisions also collaborates with the BBC for Death in Paradise

It’s not simultaneous substitution as understood in Canada. While that also involves replacing the signal of a non-local broadcaster with that of a local broadcaster, in the Canadian case it only applies where both broadcasters are showing the same episode of the same programme or the same live sporting event. It can’t be invoked (as in this case) to replace a programme with an entirely different programme. This is just a broadcaster which owns two channels simulcasting the same programme on both of them, and is more akin to when Sky a good many years ago ran Sky News Ireland and used to replace Malcom in the Middle repeats on Sky One in Ireland with a simulcast of Sky News Ireland.

I strongly think that joint coverage was made specifically for 3sat, that's because the broadcasters that were part of 3sat back in the 1980s were ZDF, ORF and SRG. ARD only joined 3sat in 1993

That clip predates 3sat; it's from the 1970s, when ORF frequently collaborated with ZDF. ORF and SRG would almost almost partner with either ZDF or the ARD system of broadcasters, not both.

Besides, U.S. election nights were aired on ORF proper; if they were also shown on 3sat later on, it was just a simulcast. 3sat is primarily a cultural channel with some news simulcasts.
