Central (West) Midlands Today
I have recently stumbled across an excellent site dedicated to the Flemish news broadcast Het Journaal. Whoever has designed the site has evidently put an awful lot of effort into it. Hundreds of clips of the VRT's news, that were already available on YouTube, have been embedded and indexed, with added commentary; there are comprehensive overviews of every design that Het Journaal has ever had, along with profiles of all the anchors, past and present. IMO, it's worth looking at just for the fantastic line drawings that are used to illustrate each page. Check it out:

(Naturally, it is in Dutch, so you'll likely need Google Translate - other translation services are available...)

The local EW Scripps Owned ABC affiliate here in Baltimore rebranded from ABC2News to WMAR-2 News this past week. They brought back their stylized two that was used for decades in different designs. This video just shows the open, weather, close and various transitions used in the broadcast.

Unfortunately at the very beginning the tease was cut off before the start of the program - I forgot that ABC ends primetime at 10:59:30. Some stations go straight to the news, while many do a tease and get a commercial break in before actually starting the newscast.

Don’t let anyone treat you like you’re a VO/SOT when you’re a PKG.

I wouldn't generalise too much. as some stations have improved vastly in recent years - much more restrained, neat and tidy. However, I do wonder how some things happen, like "Working For You" being on the screen three times in the closing shot:
*

I've never really understood the whole "on your side", "in your corner" style slogans - who are "we" fighting against?

It’s all consultant driven. Working for you may mean reporting stories of interest to you, responding to common complaints, helping resolve problems.

Here’s their previous look with old logo. I liked this logo because it made some sense to the chyron where everything had its own cell. Now it looks off centered with the logo just floating there. Apparently the ticker isn’t the same width company wide and is inserted with a different brand of CG.

I never cared for the package and I suppose if it had completely different chyrons I would feel differently.

Incidentally the station group remade the graphics Viz compatible (as they acquired a decent number of Viz stations) and are transitioning their Chyron systems to Viz.
