Speaking of Angela Rippon, here she is co-anchoring the news on Antenne 2 in France on July 3, 1978. As part of some sort of a UK-France exchange, BBC News helped to produce Antenne 2's main news that day:

Congratulations, you've won the thread! How have I never heard of this before?! And why is the anchor so miserable?

I don't speak French but I'd have to guess that he was not happy of what I would consider a sweeps stunt. I don't know if there's a UK equivalent of "Sweeps months" but it's when stations and networks typically pull out all the stops and gimmicks to get in viewers. These months (November, February, May and July) are used to make programming decisions (such as whether a series will be cancelled) and to determine ad rates for the next few months.

Antenne 2 (now France 2) and the BBC are both public television services. Antenne 2 did carry some commercial advertising, but "Sweeps" like that are not a thing in the UK (nor do I think they are in France)

Suspect he was being directed in English. Quite stressful I suspect.

Indeed. Exchanges of various kinds between European public service broadcasters were once fairly common. Sometimes, one broadcaster would even give up an evening of airtime (on one channel) to another European broadcaster, which would use it to showcase its output and promote its country's culture. It was all done in the spirit of European unity. Such exchanges are rare nowadays -- except, to some degree, among countries that speak a common language.

Yes - though there are also non-drama co-productions between broadcasters in countries like Germany, Austria and Switzerland who share common languages. This even goes as far as live entertainment shows like Wetten Das! (aka You Bet!) ISTR.

I remember that RAI and TVE also used to co-produce big entertainment shows in the 90s, presumably there is enough mutual intelligibility and/or enough Italian and Spanish spoken/understood in both countries to make sense?

Not sure if anyone shared these videos on CNN Philippines:

As can be seen, besides the graphics there's little similarity between CNN Philippines and CNN US or CNN international for that matter.
And don't get me started on the music. Really bad music.

And here's KTLA's competitor, KHJ (now KCAL) from 1979:

When it comes to news, the Dutch and the Belgians often exchange content. The Dutch-language service in Belgium (VRT) has a very senior war correspondent (Rudi Vranckx) who also produces content for the NOS Journaal if needed. The other way round is more common. The VRT has no foreign correspondents, so if something happens abroad, NOS correspondents are quite often used. Dutch correspondents are often seen on Belgian television. The Belgian and Dutch public broadcasters even share a satellite tv channel (BVN) airing content of all the public channels in NL and Flanders (basically the same concept as TV5Monde).
The commercial counterparts of the NOS Journaal and the VRT Journaal (RTL Nieuws in NL and VTM Nieuws in Belgium) do share content as well, but mainly when it comes to domestic affairs.

Hopefully this is the right place for set design but WFTV the Cox owned ABC affiliate in Orlando launched a new and impressive set on Monday. I am amazed at the size and scope of it. The set is amazing but I think it would look a lot better if they didn't have all those etched frosted glass panels around the set.

I wonder if the video backdrop is recorded or live? I think a standard 1080i live shot would look pixelated and distorted when displaced over such a large size. I have yet to see a video but I am also wondering if they use the wall for graphical elements such as OTS elements.

Apparently, Angela was in London for that newscast and they simply used a screen-merging technique to have them sitting together.

I believe they were both in London, sitting side-by-side:

(Patrick Poivre D'Arvor's introduction seems to confirm this.)

Definitely. In the end he says something like: "I'll rejoin you from Paris tomorrow"
