Was thinking that earlier on - the countdown reveal varied from the typical (TF1, France 2) to the overtly cheesy (M6) but Canal's one was by far and away the more original and just quite pretty to look at. Although I did like the horrific mutant faces of TF1.
The Lenodal blog is now running the Canal+ countdown which is quite smart - with the last ten seconds taken up by satellite shots of France zooming into view in square blocks

Have been trying to watch France 24 online and failing miserably

Canal+ presentation has always been original, to say the least. They did the same thing with the countdown for the first round results, but 20-11 were spoken out loud by the candidates themselves.

Two weeks ago when Sopel was commenting in detail on how nice this was, he suddenly added as an aside that this was normal and not a celebration of Hollande's victory.
Right on cue, the Eiffel Tower shimmers and sparkles beautifully for the 2100 TOTH on BBC News from Paris.

Here's some highlights from Ten News' special bulletin on Australia's Federal Budget:
Airing at 10:15pm, it was quite different from Ten's usual news product. It was broadcast from the networks morning television set, used Pink Floyd's 'Money' rather than Ten News' theme, and focused heavily on social media.
