That looks great, can't say what's real and what not.

I think this will help with that, ginnyfan!

The shot of the Elysee Palace is basically a huge video wall.

Thanks for this great photo!

I have a technical question: I always thought that a CSO/Chromakey background was necessary for virtual elements to be seamlessly combined with the real elements. In other words, sets usually have green or blue screens in areas where the virtual elements need to be inserted. That doesn't appear to be the case here, yet there is still a clearly defined border between the Elysee Palace video wall and the virtual sky in Joshua's first pic. How do they do that?

That certainly wasn't the case with the 1999 ITV News studio. The title elements at the top of the studio were virtual, but the rest certainly wasn't. It was almost like a split screen effect, and I suspect this is the same.

I see. Thanks!

Oh thank god! I thought they'd built a set model of it just for the occasion! Very Happy

Actually, I think it is a set model -- looking at the other photos in this thread, you can see the "palace" from a few angels and the perspective changes. I think the "large video wall" referred to is the one on the right-hand side, where a presenter is standing on the raised balcony.

It's hard to tell, but based on this behind-the-scenes video, it appears to be partially a model and partially a video wall:

WWUpdate is correct. The central part of the Elysee Palace image is a video wall, and at either side is a physical structure which has been built.

Also, the image above courtesy of @LaurenceFerrari is TF1's election set. They are using their everyday news studio, with a perculiar add-on to the desk to allow for more than 3 guests.

I believe this is the studio next to MSNBC's, which NBC Nightly News recently vacated when 'Rock Center' was launched. Not the biggest of studios, but I think WNBC's last location was converted office space?

This is how TF1 opened its election night coverage a few minutes ago:

And the same from France 2, showing the public broadcaster's large set in action:

TF1's set looks rather nice, actually. Very simple in comparison to France 2 obviously!

Never mind the bad set, powerpoint graphics and ITV news theme, it's great!

You can see the impressive French set on TV5 Monde, channel 799 on Sky.

You may need the 'Entertainment Extra' package to receive it.

New set for CBC Montreal:

I really like this set, it's the sort of thing I'd like the ITV Regions to have, maybe when Granda move to Media City they will get a new design.

For those who didn't watch all the way through the video here is the male 'anchor' showing a bit more of the set.

And as Montreal is mainly French speaking, is there a French equivalent of this programme made by CBC?
