Well it's no surprise that rich and famous (from Hollywood celebs to US tv superstars) have rushed off to ''self-isolation'' and ''working from home''. Rolling Eyes

That's not the case though – plenty of behind the scenes people are working from home. And I saw a lot of small market anchors from home on their iPhones before any of the network anchors were.

Really interesting how they're moving it around the affiliates. It has come from Dallas Fort Worth for the past 2 weekends.

Before that Dallas, KCBS in Los Angeles did two weekends. Last weekend KCNC produced the special reports, but today’s POTUS presser was introduced using a network reporter from their Dallas bureau.

On March 21, 2020 special report which was from KTVT had horrible quality on air for the presidential press conference, it was almost as if they were streaming it from the web at 15 FPS. When KTVT should have been able to get the report at-least three sources: CBS Newspath, CNN NewSource or the AP. I forget if CBS has their own fiber ring for affiliates.

Isn't it usually done by the CBSN team at the weekends?

Has CBSN upped it's live hours at all during the crisis, or perhaps the opposite and had to reduce them? What did they do when the CBS News studios were briefly closed?

I think they're still closed, hence why they're broadcasting from elsewhere.

Parts of the CBS Broadcast Center is still closed, and are still operating with a skeleton crew. Both the national CBSN and CBSN New York are taking CBSN Boston during the daytime and CBSN LA (KCBS/KCAL in Los Angeles) and CBSN Bay Area (KPIX San Francisco) handling overnight hours. CBS's New York owned station WCBS-TV did return to the Broadcast Center albeit from a temporary studio and have reporters filing reports from outside the building or at home.

WGCL will be providing the services for CBS Weekend News this week. One thing I found impressive was that aside from KCBS’ hosting duties all the different stations are operating different character generators. The graphics at CBS News are Viz based, as is KCBS. However KTVT, KCNC, KHOU and now WGCL have all used different makes of CGs, two have used Chyron but one was using a much older system so sharing of the templates couldn’t have been used. It’s impressive I think that they’re all rebuilding the graphics each week and there have been no screwups or lack of quality.

Next weeks host, I’m told is using a completely out there CG system that is very rare in the US.

Also, WMAR the Scripps owned ABC affiliate launched the new graphics package a month or two ago, I finally got around to making a montage. This comes from the 5PM half hour of news and their newly launched 7PM newscast (that I believe is temporary as ads focus solely on coronavirus news). One anchor and the meteorologist are homecasting.
