Renderings of the ABC News/ABC/ Disney HQ's Hudson Square facility have been released. Apparently the studios are meant to be underground. Not clear if this will include ABC News/WABC NY Studios as well. There is no indication if WABC will have a streetfront studio similar to what the currently use. It will take 4 years to complete. Now that just leaves CBS News in a repurposed set of buildings.
CNN, NBC and ABC will be in purpose built buildings. (NBC of being in Rockefeller Center)

How boringly generic.

This is architecture we're talking about here. It's a helluva lot better when it isn't all trying to grab your attention and be all beautiful and artistic. Boringly generic is much better overall, especially when it comes to something like a broadcast company.

That's the exact opposite of architecture.

Nope. Architecture is anything to do with building design, even the drab and the boring and the generic.

Well, Mies van der Rohe, one of the 20th century's greatest architects, famously said that "less is more" in building design. Minimalist, modernist architecture can be light and graceful, while remaining wonderfully functional.

Couldnt have said it any better than one of history's globally renown fathers of modern architecture.
I think we all can agree NY is certainly not Dubai where every building is screaming at you. It doesnt need to. Neither does most American cities. Since they have been building Skyscrapers since 1884 in Chicago.

Clearly this structure has been designed to fit in the with neighbourhood in which it is located. No like a screaming child yelling "Look at me! Look at me!"

Surrounded by old loft buildings from the area’s printmaking industrial past, now home to rehabilitated offices, studios and exhibition spaces, 4 Hudson Square is set in the latest center for startups, media, and technology of the city. ....
Visually connected to the water towers and warehouse rooftops that characterize the area, 4 Hudson Square will blend in with the mixed-used context and the urban fabric through ground floors that will offer retail amenities to serve the local community.

Altice USA's News 12 Networks, the Emmy-award winning network group and the main source of local news among adults in the New York Tri-State area, today unveils a new visual identity for News 12, including a modernized logo and graphics package.

The new News 12 look and feel was inspired by the dynamic nature of the news business and designed for cross-platform usage across its linear TV networks and digital channels, including News 12’s website, apps, and social media plaftorms. The logo pays homage to the network's heritage with a contemporary spin on the News 12’s familiar blue and yellow color palette.

The new logo and refreshed visual identity, which was designed in partnership with design firm Thornberg and Forester, will be seen on News 12 broadcasts in the Bronx and Brooklyn starting today, and will roll out throughout the remaining regions in the coming weeks.

News 12 Networks continues to evolve and build on its 30-year history of award winning journalism. The network recently relaunched News 12 Traffic and Weather as News 12+, which now offers the latest trending headlines, hyperlocal news updates, and original lifestyle programming in addition to local weather and road and rail updates each hour. News 12 has also been moderninzing its studios across the tri-state area and is in the process of building new state-of-the-art TV and digital studios within Altice USA's Bethpage, NY office building.

The new CBS Evening News set in Washington is set to debut this week, slightly later than originally intend. How long it'll last remains to be seen as Norah O'Donnell's numbers have been even worse than for Jeff Glor. They really should never have got rid of Scott Pelley.

I don't think the headline numbers are all that CBS are interested in at the moment. I also get a sense that they are trying to appeal to a demographic that is somewhat younger than those who traditionally watch the evening news broadcasts. Also, I get the sense that the Washington move has another purpose beyond the fact that Norah lives there. In this upcoming election year, being in Washington may score them extra access or exclusives they might not get otherwise.
