If the show isn't on all the time (assuming you mean revert to rolling news) or at a regular basis is that it won't maintain audience viewership when a shows on with the host is present. Unless you are referring to a generic show title as a placeholder such as BBC Live when Victoria isn't present.
I do have to ask for comparison purposes was Victoria Derbyshire off this frequently (aside from Friday's) before or after her cancer diagnosis? It's only been a year since she was diagnosed, even though the treatment has run its course and has a good prognosis there still may be other issues related to her diagnosis.
I'm trying to think back (I believe I was a lurker) when George Alagaigh's name being taken off of GMT during his cancer treatment or when Matthew Amroliwala was gone from Impact with radio silence.
I don't understand the necessary to keep a name branded show on all the time if your star of the show is going to be absent most of the time.
