So the News channel will opt out of Breakfast to join World News at 08:30 until 9:00 joining Victoria Derbyshire at 9:15. That leaves a 15 minute gap which I suspect will be filled either with BBC World News or sports news.

Ben & Sally's business programme will launch first on World News, but will be on News Channel after the election.

No UK-focused news on News Channel then from 8:30-9:15, unless Breakfast changes its final 45 minutes. A poor move really. Cost-cutting and sharing with World News dressed up as exciting new programming.

Also, part of the cuts included a shared international hour of news in the evenings, which hasn't been announced yet. I wonder when we'll hear more about that.

As I suspected, papering over the cuts to News by simulcasting World and then with BBC Two. Sky News has an open goal here.

Not sure about your BBC Two ref. BBC Two have effectively picked up a News Channel commission (which it sounds like they may be putting some money - but I doubt that much - towards) rather than BBC News simulcasting a BBC Two show?

Doubt Sky will benefit hugely.

Looking at the current ratings the BBC NC beat Sky around 3:1 between 0900 and 1200. (BBC vary from 140,000 to 270,000, with Sky varying between 40,000 and 80,000 in the same slot)

Sky will benefit from being the only domestic news channel providing a rolling news service while Ms Derbyshire prattles on with her humanist look at the news. It's still a cut in actual proper news content in comparison to the current 0830-1100 slot.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing this show air, it all sounds very promising. The world business show also sounds like something different. I will reserve full judgment until it's seen on air.regarding the the comments on rolling news, surely it won't hurt to have a different program for a few hours, when the majority of the day it's a rolling news channel.

The BBC press release says that it will include a greater use of viewer feedback or whatever. Who are they asking who want more viewers opinions on news stories?

A lot of people don't like things such as Vox Pops and Your News sections - people want the news from a news channel not viewers opinions. Hopefully it won't take up much of the show as I've seen the comments people leave on the BBC website.

That's the problem now, news channels in an attempt to gain younger audiences have these inane interactive shows which add nothing, at least AJE's one is scheduled in the back half hour. If I'm going to interact with a news channel, I'll do it on Facebook or Twitter, not while watching a linear 'rolling news' channel.

It may be like RT's In the Now, where the tweets etc flash up on screen, leaving Anissa Naouai to interview the guests down the line, yet whatever way you spin it, it's still 2.5 hours of mainstream rolling news cut from the News Channel unless press conferences or major breaking news happens.

This is based on what exactly? Did she present five live Breakfast and Newsnight with a humanist take? Did Eamonn Holmes bring the phone in competitions and showbiz gossip to SKY when he left GMTV?

Most in the real world outside the tv forum / Newswatcb brigade will hardly notice a difference.

It says in the note to editors at the bottom...

Quote:
The launch editor for Victoria’s programme will be Louisa Compton, editor of BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat. Louisa will continue to have an overview of Newsbeat.

Does this mean that Louisa (who is currently editor of Radio 1's Newsbeat) will continue to be editor of Newsbeat or will she now move to being in charge of this show?

Some questions, why can't this show be simulcast on BBC One? As daytime on BBC One is not very good at the moment, and could do with some other good live shows to compete with ITV?

Wont this show being on BBC Two mean the channel goes from the Victoria Derbyshire show straight to BBC World News/BBC News simulcast as it already does on BBC Two?

BBC One daytime already outperforms ITV's live output. People don't want a block of news on BBC One daytime, there is an audience for the property, antiques, consumer output.

Her 5 Live radio show. Let's also consider that the editor of Newsbeat is also working on this show. It's bad enough BBC Two already has a dumbed down Newsnight under Ian Katz and now this.
