The Newsnight figure seems a bit suspect as it’s usually in the 0.5-0.8m range.

Also, shouldn’t she be comparing the show
with programmes in the same slot rather than programmes at different times.

A tad unfair of Victoria to compare her show to Newsnight. The latter gives politicians regardless if they have a human interest story they want to feature an outlet on late night BBC2. Also the Westminster bubble and the Mediarati watch it.

I wonder if Vine got more than her on the day she's quoting BARB figures?

Newsnight is lower on Thursdays as it clashes with Question Time

I find the begging for a reprieve slightly awkward. TV shows get axed. New shows get commissioned. That’s TV.

And i've now seen a tweet saying the daytime schedules will look lightweight without it! Pull the other one! The Daytime schedules have been looking lightweight even before the show came on the scene!

She's just upset - now she knows how those who lost their jobs in 2015 felt when redundancies had to be made to fund and fit her show in.

She can go back to radio and take her stories to the land of the non visual, studio b can be returned to BBC World News who will light up that studio properly and pump it out in proper HD at 19.2e

I can see the arguments about the good journalism it's done and other positives about the programme, but I do wonder why no-one was speaking up about it before this week.

It's not seemed particularly valued or well thought of, it seemed to be one of those programmes that never really entered the public consciousness.

Now suddenly it's the jewel in the crown of BBC News

I'd love them to have gone on Newswatch and said something along the lines of "Following a recent £700,000 shortfall we have no choice but to make such decisions".

As someone else said, TV shows come, and they go. That's entertainment |(which obviously news now fits into after the recent court ruling).
