Vice - Time Warner talks ends; A+E Nets acquires 10% stake

Back on the 29th of December 2013, it was learned that Vice Magazine was to launch a "Vice News" channel while expanding their news coverage and has recently won acclaim for their rolling coverage of the riots in Ferguson, MO and their dispatches from Ukraine and other locations.

Recent Developments regarding the Vice Channel are that:
Per The New York Times , Time Warner has ended their talks with Vice Media and will no longer seek to acquire the company nor a majority/minority stake. Should Vice had decided to agree to a deal, Time Warner would have spun off the former CNN Headline News network HLN into Vice News. I should also note that Time Warner also approached for ex-HLN host and former Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck and his company Mercury Radio Arts to rebrand HLN and bring it line with Beck's The Blaze TV. (formerly GBTV)

Furthermore, A+E Networks is in the process of finalising a deal to acquire a 10% stake in the company worth $250 Million with the deal to be announced in the incoming week. A+ E Networks is co-owned by Walt Disney (parent of ESPN and ABC) and Hearst. 21st Century Fox will continue to own their 5% stake in the company.

Seems like a somewhat misleading headline if Time Warner didn't ultimately acquire a minority stake.

Ugh the disturbing thing is we could see HLN turned into Glen Becks psychotic mouth piece channel. My finger is at the ready to delete from my program guide. Ugh.

Well, the HLN/ The Blaze Talks never went past the talking stages as well as the Time Warner/ Vice talks. As to HLN's future, there is nothing else going on but with TW making cuts across the board CNN and HLN may eat up most of those cuts
