Should be standard procedure. A good presentation/transmission area will have the highest level of resilience of any part of a television station.
Yep - though UTV is one of the few ITV regional operations left WITH transmission/presentation facilities isn't it?
Meridian, Anglia etc. don't these days...

Good bit of lateral thinking to run the programme from continuity. If most regional programmes break down these days, that's it.

Just watching Monday's troubled episode, and IMO the breakdown could have been handled better.
Instead of dead air, there should have been some kind of music played in the background. And Gillian's announcements sounded too much like she was an air stewardess.
I thought there could have been an announcement to let viewers know that they had sorted their problems out and they were about to hand back to Paul - or was this because the breakdown screen was switching back to the continuity studio, hence there was nowhere for Gillian to make an announcement to inform viewers?
Therefore, does this mean that if UTV's announcers and presentation department COULD, there could be in-vision continuity for all links?
But going back to UTV Live, and back to Paul in typical wooden mode - why not use Lynda?
PS. Whose Nokia phone went off during Ken's interview with Big Ian?
