I tuned in tonight to watch the start of UTV Live at 5:30 to see that UTV were now showing Heartbeat the same as ITV1. It now starts at 6pm without any of the lifestyle stuff broadcast between 5:30 and 6. We also didn't get Frank Mitchell's weather forecast with "Weather Watchers" at its usual time!
Is this the norm for UTV at this time of the year or is there another reason why UTV Live now starts at 6pm?
Probably a summer thing. When NE Tonight was an hour long (until the launch of NE Today about 3 or 4 years ago) they would shorten the programme to half an hour in the summer.
According to Digiguide they've got Heartbeat on at 5pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. On Wednesday UTV are showing The Planet's Funniest Animals at 6pm. Regional programmes at 5pm are back on Thursday
Incidently how are UTV getting away with a 5 minute main evening bulitten on Wednesday? I know tommorow is a bank holiday in the North, but I don't think Wednesday is?

The 12th and 13th are generally considered holidays.
UTV are having their Bank Holiday today then? Sounds about right
btw, Was there an announcement on UTV Live Features last Friday about being on holiday for three days, or is it expecting too much to ask if there was any continuity explaining the differences on Monday?
Security alerts across Co. Armagh so they decided let's do an OB from the main road and park the truck in someones driveway! Only lasted 10 seconds. waste of money - but then more OBs than UTV have in a week.
