Rkolsen....question? The ABC News election set... the Tvnewser article wasnt very clear. Is it just for the Election or is that going to be their new World News Tonight set? I cant imagine that it is.

Looking at ABC’s studios I’d assume they’d be using TV2. It’s 5,150 sq ft with a maximum working height is 34 ft and the cyc is at 28.5 ft. And it’s completely vacant.

TV1 has a set that’s routinely used, similar height a bit bigger but has a pretty elaborate set.

TV23 is a whopping 12,000 square feet but is used every day (Dr. Oz Show seems to tape every day for three days in advance) and a short ceiling at 19 feet.

I know NBC News has been using its Democracy Plaza set-up for a number of years now. But I always thought they would have transformed the CNBC HQ into an election HQ. After all CNBC uses loads of other studios during its broadcast day. It seems like the perfect place to do election coverage from the Ft Lee NJ studios

And CNN loves making a big splash, I always thought the CNN Center atrium would have been a brilliant broadcast space. The ground floor of CNN Center is a food court, but they built a huge elevated platform to broadcast one of the 2016 Presidential Elections, so doing the same for the election coverage wouldnt have been impossible. In recent memory I can recall them bring everyone to CNN Center once for election coverage. Its modern era its usually from DC lately or their NYC Bureau. In 2000 they used the Nasdaq wall. Hated that coverage. It was weird covering from there.

Of the ones I remember, election night 1996 came from the atrium in Atlanta - it looked pretty good.

2000 was also from Atlanta, but they used the regular CNN US newsroom set, decorated with flags. 2004 came from the Nasdaq in New York. 2008 was from the Election Center studio in New York and, from 2012, they've been in DC.

So NBC's coverage is in fact coming from Studio 1A. Meet The Press debuted the 'NBC Election Center'. It seems the main section of the set is in front of 1A's curved videowall with the usual Today desk area becoming a secondary area. It also seems like Today's 'Orange Room' has undergone some work. One would assume this will be somewhere for 'number crunching', with the aid of the screens.

Has to be election set. Too much for a news set.

MSNBC had the AR out for a run on Rockefeller Center. Also they had a preview tonight and the transformed 3A. All it looks like is they added the election desk, some acrylic or red, white, blue floor adhesive. Steve Kornacki their numbers guy now has a large tablet like what Kasey showed along with a GoPro overtop of it. I imagine there will be a Kornacki Cam, people love watching him work. They have a mini two person desk that shoots straight down the newsroom of 3A.

I imagine 4E will be incorporated in some way for MSNBC. Today MSNBC dayside programming moved to 3A the Nightly News studio. Normally when 3A is in use they default to 4E.

Studio 1A during Meet The Press and Nightly News showed some of the exterior video walls - there’s a triangular like one on the Plaza that looked like it was set perfectly to appear within a window. I almost wonder if there will be more cameras down there. 1A when it was built has 12.

That ABC set is very 'Times Square'.
