What is it with Sky News' obsession with blogs at the moment? 4 minutes into the hour and Martin Stanford is already talking about what blogs are saying on the US election... it is lazy journalism and not proper coverage!!!

Hi. This is a forum where people talk about the way in which television channels present the news. My apologies if you're the editor of BBC News America and I've offended you, but it was a reasonable comment that I made. I'm also watching MSNBC and CNN, btw. I think people should be allowed to pass comment on what they're seeing without receiving that kind of response.

I take it you didn't notice the word AMERICA under the branding of tonights BBC Coverage?

till now AJE is doing a great work and taking a lead on BBC in my opinion ,, at least till now

i'm pleased to see Gavin Hewitt again in America and Katty kay is wonderful today..

Looking at the caps and having seen the other US channels tonight such as MSNBC and Fox, it's very noticable the diffrence in style between US and UK news programmes (and I count AJE with the UK channels as lots of people who worked on it's launch came from UK channels like Sky).

The US clutter their screen with as much information as they can, layer on top of layer, flipping and rotating. Compare that with the BBC and AJE who have very clean, concise, no-nonsense graphics.

Fox is the worst at the moment, they's got several rows of stats at the bottom of the screen and sitting on the top of them is the normal 'alert' etc astons which are overlapping the stats.

The same goes for the sets - CNNs in the cap above is just crazy.

CNN's studio is pretty amazing, better than Fox's and CNN's graphics are preferred more than them. Dunno why but BBC need a bit more graphics up, something more than a constant breaking news strap other than that their coverage may be extensive but I reckon its quite boring.

EDIT: Odd, BBC Worlds dog disappeared then the crap version popped up as a red bar with BBC WORLD on it, however I didn't see if any other text was on it. After break Breaking ticker came up with a logo-less dog!

I think some of Martins coverage of whats going on on the web has been quite good.

Noticed Sky seemed to have some problems early on with the virtual studio early on with switching to the wrong cameras..

BBC WNA and Matt Frei tried to compete with the big boys, and they did a good job. Correspondents in key locations, analysis...but

- the graphics were difficult to follow - i couldnt tell who was winning visually. Someone in London could have used a big screen. I thought AJE did well with their visual presentation.

- Matt needed a co-anchor and some more studio guests. Everybody else did, including AJE.

It looks like something out of Batman and Robin ...
