We're all in shock at this turn of events aren't we?

4 weeks ago he was in a covid hit hospital boasting he was still shaking hands with everyone and encouraging people to continue shaking hands, so I can't really say I'm shocked no.

Not sure Laura Kuessenberg's question just now that 'Are you confident that the government is under control' to Domonic Raab was exactly the right choice of phrasing. Needlessly dramatic and a pointless question to ask - even if it wasn't he's hardly to say 'No, we're like headless chickens' is he?

It's like when they shout something out at a minister when the leave/arrive at Number 10. They never get an answer but i'm sure the reporter goes away feeling smug.

I've thought for years that Laura K is far too dramatic, whether its Brexit, the tories or whatever the latest was with Labour & Corbyn, every night you'd think it was the worst most seismic thing ever to happen in the world of politics.

I think some of you want patriotic cheerleaders rather than journalists. It was clear from today's press conference that most of those journalists knew that Number 10 was misleading the country about his true condition.
He apparently went from working in bed to Intensive care in 2 hours....

Yeah he shouldn’t have that, but this is a worrying turn of events now, it goes without saying I’m sure everyone will want the prime minister to pull through this.

Why do you feel the need to keep posting this?

I think the politics section of Digital Spy would be right up your street, latching on to a snippet of news and running with it forever is right up their street.

We all know how the media works though

If it had moved away from the public eye straight away, the media would be full of 'where is he? he's hiding again? he can't cope with the crisis? etc etc

It's like when you are off work (in normal times), you almost have to go in ill at least one day, so people know you are ill when you ring in sick.

She has been asking needlessly dramatic and pointless questions at pretty much every press conference to be honest!

Really don't think she's great as Political Editor and I don't remember her being anywhere near as bad during her Chief Political Correspondent days. She seems to enjoy the drama of the times we're living in a bit too much for my liking - and her breathless reporting of things on Twitter doesn't exactly help the Beeb (like with the protestors story from the last election). Stories like Brexit, recent elections and Coronavirus really need a strong political editor.
I don't think Peston is any better on the other side either.

With all due respect. Why don’t you create a new thread about this subject.

Sorry if I’m offending you, but it reads like tabloid fodder. Let’s discuss elsewhere.

Come on, I am sure we can discuss the news and the presentation of the news without resorting to personal attacks.

Not offended in any way. The point was originally linked to how Laura was covering the story of the Prime Minister being in intensive care so off-topic. And I'm not sure the post would really be worth a thread on its own. But happy for the mods to amend/separate if they feel it's appropriate.
