What awful news. Hope he pulls through and thoughts with his family and friends - particularly his fiancee.

Is there no longer a News Report slide for Newsflashes? I recall NI used a makeshift one for the Manchester arena bombing in 2017. They really need to review the appropriateness of their presentation package.

That was my thought too.
The NC/World simulcast seems to have continued doing its own thing - it's fortuitous that E was available and Huw Edwards was back in after his own stay in hospital to give the bulletin the gravity it deserved.

Is Kasia Madera always like this when delivering Breaking News? She was giving out random emergency phone numbers earlier and having to correct herself and telling people not to ring them!? She started going off on a tangent about all the things Boris Johnson wanted to do but now can't as if he'd died - and had to stop herself going any further.

Nothing against Kasia in general as I think she's great on Newsday, but she seems to be getting a bit consumed in the news.

Not sure Laura Kuessenberg's question just now that 'Are you confident that the government is under control' to Domonic Raab was exactly the right choice of phrasing. Needlessly dramatic and a pointless question to ask - even if it wasn't he's hardly to say 'No, we're like headless chickens' is he?

I think the BBC always used "News Report" whilst ITN used "News Flash" but I think had switched to News Report by the late 90s.

She has been asking needlessly dramatic and pointless questions at pretty much every press conference to be honest!

I don't know about anybody else but I really do wish they would go back to using the actual words "NEWS FLASH" when they have to break into schedules like tonight. Why did the word "flash" fall out of favour a few years ago?

Because viewers didn’t find the idea of Michael Buerk standing there in nothing but a trench coat that appealing.

Sky News' gruesome twosome on air now is hard to watch. Appreciate Kassia's more human approach on BBC.

I agree. I get the feeling with Laura she thinks she’s more important than she actually is because she’s the first female BBC Political Editor and she’s had the role during Brexit and now Coronavirus, as though she thinks she’s the only thing that’ll be remembered about the 2 events in years to come. She’s good but she’s not all that.

Thinking of you Boris. I’m lucky enough as someone who hasn’t even experienced any symptoms, so can’t begin to think about how appalling it must be to be in ICU. As said above hopefully it’ll be the final kick up the arse the idiots need to stop playing football and having sex in public parks.

Really don't think she's great as Political Editor and I don't remember her being anywhere near as bad during her Chief Political Correspondent days. She seems to enjoy the drama of the times we're living in a bit too much for my liking - and her breathless reporting of things on Twitter doesn't exactly help the Beeb (like with the protestors story from the last election). Stories like Brexit, recent elections and Coronavirus really need a strong political editor.
I don't think Peston is any better on the other side either.
