I saw Lookaround on the ITV News Channel good to see it on location in Carlisle but lets be honest here why could they not have done that over the weekend .

Errrm - Border TV was off air due to a power cut?

I watched Lookaround at 6pm and then Look North Newcastle at 6.30pm.

I felt that Lookaround was the better, purely because they had a more compact region to cover and didn't have to break off for Newcastle's football and Hexham's water shortage.

I know there will be comments about the lack of (quality) Scottish coverage on Border, but at least their region doesn't spread all the way down to York.

And Caldbeck was also down due to the same power cut.

Give that man a cigar! Laughing

Quite. No power and no generator PLUS no way of editing material (they don't have a mobile edit facility) and no way of sending pix to TTTV so they could put something together (power was down at BTV and therefore no way of sending material over lines to TTTV). I know the next cry will be "What about using ITN's truck?". They did for some of the material and that was used in the TTTV item.
Plus there was the continuing uncertainty as to whether power would be restored to BTV over the weekend. It was a confusing and fluid situation.
I thought what TTTV did was good on Sunday and I know it didn't include the Borders or other parts of the Cumbria but it was the best TTTV could do.

A nice view from the roof of YTV as well. Cool

They refered to him as "ITV's Northern Weather Forecaster". Border viewers will be wondering what he was doing in Leeds!

No you don't say Rolling Eyes i'd never have known.

Border TV could have taken a camera crew into Carlisle and done a live broadcast from the affected areas . ITV news did .
