Are two presenters really better than one?

Maybe this has been mentioned before but I couldn't see it. The best presenting duo IMO is the husband and wife team of Mike Nesbitt and Lynda Bryans on UTV Live. Rubbish programme but great presenters.

It's always great here when you start a topic and it manages to get to a second page.

Even better when you log-in an see it's reached four pages - but disheartening to discover the last couple of pages are solely an argument between a couple of members.

It's not just annoying for the topic starter, but also for those interested in the subject and have taken the time to respond.

Just remember this is a forum where people are entitled to express their opinions - it's fine to criticise their opinion, but it certainly isn't acceptable to criticise members for expressing their opinion.

If the argument must continue use the PM feature - but for now let's get back to where we left off before we were so rudely interupted - something about jokes in news bulletins!

I'm extremely sorry for causing a row, I agree with you, let's get back on topic.

Returning to topic following my dear, dear friends eviction.....
There was rumours not to long ago about a pool of presenters for the National and some alterations.....wish full thinking I know but..... if this is true would the pool now still use two presenters for the 6?

I agree that Sophie and George don't have the X Factor (just like G4) Laughing

But I beg you to watch Reporting Scotland with Jackie Bird and David Robertson. Lets just say the chemistry is in a mortuary lab. My fellow Scots will be aware of this.

They'll also be aware of the famous jacket incident with my user namesake. For Jackie saw red when Oor Annie 'borrowed it' back in 1996 (how sad am I for remembering that)

Do any of the Rep Scot presenters like Jackie??

Having seen a few editions recently of Reporting Scotland, I have to agree that it is dire. The comment above about the presenter's chemistry resembling a morgue is spot on, I am afraid. I gather that the icy atmosphere between Jackie Bird and David Robertson is quite well known back in my homeland.

It must be something to do with the programme, as there were also famous feuds in the past (allegedly) and on screen antagonism between Eddie Mair and Alan Douglas (late 80's), and in an even earlier era, between Mary Marquis and Viv Lumsden (early to mid 80's I think). So much so that Mary and Viv eventually never appeared on screen together. Kirsty Wark also presented the programme during that era, as did someone called Louise something or other (very wooden).

I think RS has good presenters, but they just need to integrate a bit better. RS has never been famed for its banter, I think the programme is better with one presenter, like it was in the nineties, co - presentation just doesn't seem to be working for BBC Scotland.
