Well, I'm REALLY annoyed by that comment.
I'm sorry in advance to everyone else for shouting, but
WHY ON EARTH ARE YOU ANNOYED BY THAT COMMENT?!!
Someone disagrees with you. Big deal. I agree wholeheartedly with Robert and Matrix, why oh why can you not accept that different points of view exist?
Instead you continue to fawn sickeningly over Natasha, Fiona and others. I like Natasha Kaplinsky. I like Fiona Bruce. But your inane, ridiculous and frankly obsessive comments are, as I've said before, making any threads about BBC News presenters or programmes frankly tedious to read.
Until you learn to express your opinions calmly and sensibly without shouting others down about theirs, I suggest you either be quiet or go away.
Oh, and incidentally, you say you want to be a "newsreader" (note newsreader, not journalist) - accepting and trying to understand the opinions of others is a central skill required to do the job.
Oh, and just imagine if, by some stroke of luck, you did manage to achieve your ambition - how would your future colleagues (Natasha, Fiona and the like) respond to knowing what sorts of things you go around saying/thinking about them? They'd find it very hard to take you seriously, surely?
Normally people apologise for ranting, but I make no apologies for this because, as yet, I've seen no apologies from Winifred for her almost-always ridiculous posts.
1. What do you mean by ''Oh, and just imagine if, by some stroke of luck, you did manage to achieve your ambition''? It won't be a stroke of luck because I'm very determined to become a Newseader and when I'm determined to do something I ALWAYS achieve it.
2. Why do you have a problem with me wanting to be a ''Newreader'' instead of a ''Journalist''?
3. How on earth will Natasha, Fiona and co. know about the comments I've written on an Internet forum?
Oh dear, an argument with Winifred... it'll be interesting to see how this turns out...
Firstly, you failed to answer my main question. That's right, the one in capital letters, near the top there... see it? Good.
1. Newsreaders in today's broadcasting landscape are always journalists. As pointed out elsewhere on this forum, you have to work extremely hard, pursuing radio, print and other forms of journalism before you can begin to think about making any inroads into television, and then you'd probably be a reporter, producer or working on regional news.
Your notion of determination getting you there is admirable and true in part. But perhaps also a little naive - being "in the right place at the right time" is a cliche, but there is some truth in it.
Incidentally, I'd be interested to know what progress and efforts you've already made towards achieving your ambition of becoming a "newsreader".
2. Answered above.
3. I suspect you'd be surprised to know how many within the industry do read forums like this. And my point is one of principle anyway and still stands - could they treat you with respect if they knew about this?

I'm not annoyed at all by that comment, I was being sarcastic
hence the ''rolleyes'' emoticon.
Also, I've only put my first name on this forum, how on earth are Fiona, Natasha and co. going to know which ''Winifred'' in the media world has made comments about them on this forum?

Feel free to respond to any of the other points I've made (I suspect you've ignored them anyway).
Other than that I'll leave this for now. I have other things to be doing with my life.

Is that how you will treat your guests when you become a newsreader? Not even Kaplinsky does that.

I know Natasha doesn't, that's one of the many reasons why I like her because she's very polite to the guests on Breakfast.
However, Jeremy Paxman treats his guests like that on Newsnight. Do you remember when Jeremy asked Michael Howard the same question 12 times becuase he didn't give him a straight anwser?

Answer: Maybe they will, maybe they won't, who knows. I have to wait and see when I'm working for BBC TV News.
Well, I've answered your questions Turnbull and Williams, now please will you answer mine or can't you take the heat.
