TVE - New Logo

Well, thumbing through the forgien channels last night, I noticed TVE has changed it's logo, from the old angular letters close together style (just how long was that logo typeface used for? - has to be over 20 years) to a new 'logo'.

The 'TVE' is now 'tve' in lower case, and the DOG is now like a darkish/light blue thumb print smudge at the bottom right of the screen. It doesn't look to bad, definately more subtle from the old one.

The old one was classic. Sorry to hear that they've changed it.

Sad really. TVE had used their old logo for donkeys years, certainly way back into the 70s ... probably for much longer. I certainly have seen the old TVE logo on Eurovision clips on Youtube going back a very long time. It seems that lots of European broadcasters are ditching some very well known logos in favour of some rather uninspired replacements IMO. SVT recently ditched their 'starflower' for example.

Seeing what I've seen, it looks disappointing as a corporate logo, but seeing it as an ident and for TVE 1, it doesn't look too bad, quite modern, but it doesn't match the last look.

Well I did debate lumping this in the main forum, but as the logo change appeared to have happened over this last weekend, I thought it better in the newsroom, AxG.

Yes indeed and, actually I never particularly liked the old TVE logo anyway, but having been used on screen for 40 years or so (I've found it on a 1969 Eurovision logo on Youtube for example, search for careta eurovision) I'm sure it was one that was instantly recognisable. It's just a shame that it's being ditched after all these years. The again the BBC managed to ditch it's iconic slanty /B/ /B/ /C/ boxes, but they replaced them with a reworked version that still looks brilliantly fresh and modern 10 (11?) years later.

It reminds me of HTV's 70s/80s logo and RTÉ's 1980s/1990s logo.

Being an old Eurovision bore, it's a shame these logos don't make an appearance on the contest any more, either at the start in the Eurovision logo or during the voting!

I don't like their new logo in my opinion, I prefer their old one.

What a shame. The old one was a true classic that withstood the test of time. To be honest, I would have quite liked this new look if it had been for anyone other than RTVE as it's not bad.

That said, I'm glad RNE's hideous logos are a thing of the past!
