Yes it really is a shame the police can't use a big pain machine to attack huge swathes of protesters at once in revenge for a few muppets rather than having to be reasonably proportionate.

Someone threw a firework at his horse. Others are throwing snooker balls at police.
It's a shame we don't use water cannons in this country.

Why are Sky and the BBC not sharing pooled Helicopter footage?
We gave them the benefit of the doubt during the last big march as it was a spur of the moment thing, now surely they've had time to get this arranged.
I notice its been a lot quicker at getting Live footage off the ground whereas before it took a good few hours to get Live pictures on air. It was all 'recorded earlier'.

Obviously wasn't "mounted" then was he!
When democracy fails what do you expect though - but unfortunately even if this is the beginning of the end for the coalition government Labour are almost certainly in a weaker not in a position for a quick return to government and the Tory scum could get back in with an actual majority.
crikey. Sky have some rather grisly footage of a mounted officer who'd been trampled by his own horse.

Because they don't want to?
The BBC's helicopter is probably being pooled with ITN.
Well surely both organisations are running Live news channels (Sky/BBC), both are cost cutting - sharing a resource like a Helicoper would surely make sense. Obviously I didn't myself clear to you.

You could continue your argument, and ask why they're not sharing cameras on the ground; journalist; and spotters? They're competing news channels, and aren't going to want to have the same pictures on both their channels at once. (ITN, on the other hand, can't make use of the footage until their next bulletin, so there's less of a competition issue here.)

CNN/US has also had extensive coverage. At one point there was a CNN/US simulcast on CNNI
I think the international coverage is for two reasons:
1. The small violent elements - violence doesn't happen very often in the UK like this, so when it does it gets a lot of attention
2. It's being seen in the wider conext of austerity in the UK and Europe
That said, I am not sure if the entire global audience of BBC World will find this totally relevant to them. Protests occur all around the world by students almost on a daily basis - World doesn't normally cover it live with end-to-end on the spot coverage and interrupted programming. So why are the UK protests being given the air time?
CNNI is also carrying it live and open-ended.

Well it seems that CNN (Using ITN footage) have a different Live helicopter as well!
