Here we go again. looks like they've definitely got their money shot already, of protestors trying to overturn a police van. Otherwise, they appear to mainly be milling around on Whitehall...

Looks like they're trying to storm the Treasury this time.

I think it's just that they don't have anywhere to go - they've been penned in to the bottom end of Whitehall, and the angrier ones are trying to get down the street between the Treasury and the Foreign Office.

Surprisingly, Kay Burley seems to be doing a better job of covering it than Emily Maitlis on the News Channel - they've got a former Met intelligence officer in the studio, and Martin Brunt at New Scotland Yard, and are actually explaining a bit of context. The BBC, on the other hand, are just saying what we're seeing; and what we're seeing probably isn't a very fair representation of what's happening on the ground.

The other BBC newsreader said the police are using their truncheons to "try and calm the protesters down".

They could be showing the Irish budget announcement instead of this rubbish.

Yeah, but that's boring, innit?

It is fascinating being able to watch this unfold from multiple angles - both the BBC and Sky have their helicopters up; the BBC have Mike Sargent on the ground with a radio camera (he was outside Downing Street earlier); and Sky have a camera showing what's going on in Trafalgar Square. It would probably make a good documentary about how the police handle protests, but doesn't necessarily feel right to roll with it when there are other big stories on the go...

"A space has gathered around a fire that has been lit", according to Emily Maitlis.
The BBC were live with Mike Sargent, quite close to it, when something in it flared up and caused an impressive looking fireball.

Quite a moment there with Mike Sargent almost getting hit by that petrol explosion! Hope it gets youtubed.

Were Sky nicking BBC's pictures?

Sky News have a live camera in the containment of people - someone took the opportunity to start shouting "Sky News are lying" at the camera which attempted to turn away from it.
