So next Friday 20th January is the inauguaration. According to Radio Times, Katty Kay is anchoring BBC 1's coverage from 4pm, with Tom Bradby anchoring for ITV. Not sure who's anchoring for Sky.
Sticking with the BBC coverage though, whilst Katty Kay is a more than competent anchor for the event, previously wouldn't this have been a job for a face well known to UK audiences on BBC 1 and the NC, like Huw Edwards? I'm sure he's anchored the last few presidential inauguarations.
Have we really seen the end of the BBC flying out it's big names to cover big planned events such as this? Is there likely to be a less senior but more recognisable face anchoring NC coverage that day, like Jane Hill or Clive Myrie, or is Katty Kay likely to be anchoring coverage for World / NC / BBC 1 in a massive simulcast operation?
Will BBC 1 lose audience share to ITV by not having someone recognisable like Huw anchoring their coverage?
I'm only an occasonal visitor to these forums, so apologies if this has been discussed at length already, but this is the first time that I know of that a major planned news event like this has been covered by a World anchor for UK audiences and I guess is a sign of the BBC News cuts starting to show on screen.
