Sir Trevor McDonald has signed a new contract keeping him at ITV once he leaves the News at 10.30 next month.
Under the deal, the veteran broadcaster will front a host of new shows in addition to current affairs series Tonight with Trevor McDonald and the annual National Television Awards. Planned projects include a new documentary series and an interview-based show with a "wide range of guests".
“I am delighted to have a continuing role with ITV in a wider range of programmes and am very much looking forward to starting work on these new projects," said McDonald, who has been with ITV for thirty years.
ITV programming director Nigel Pickard added: “No-one commands the respect and affection of nationwide audiences like Trevor does and we are delighted that he continues as the face of ITV’s current affairs.”
