Guess who I'd want???
However, as she has turned it down before - as she wants to be based in Aberdeen with her husband and wee Jack - I don't think she will be a runner.
SKY News have some good presenters like Jeremy and Chris Roberts, along with Juliette Foster and Lisa Aziz.
Mark Austin will get it though. I just wonder if Mary will now team up with Nina Hossain. It'd just be like Viv and Shereen again - two women anchors - I hope that DOES happen.

I don't think that two female anchors would happen on the primetime bulletin on ITV1, or two male for that matter either. The ITV News Channel seems to rarely have two women anchors at the same time, so I doubt they would use them for the Evening News - I think production teams like to keep the scales fairly balanced.
I think it is usually the case on the News at 10.30 that if the anchor is male, the sports presenter will be female and vice versa also.

I would have liked Nick Owen or Katie Derham to do the 10.30, but ironically they have both been teamed together to do the Lunchtime News !
I don't think that two male or female anchors, anchoring at any time is a problem. It happens a lot in the regions, especially at Border TV. The Six O'Clock News used to do it with two male or female anchors in the nineties.

Tim Ewart will have some experience actually reading the news because he used to do the daytime news summaries almost all the time around 1993-1995ish.

Also; has anyone ever considered someone like Tim Ewart? He is clearly an experienced correspondent and editor, after being Africa correspondent before turning to sports, which is much like Mark, except he was Asia correspondent.

And he was also the presenter of Newsroom South East for a time.
Could he have a chance alongside Mary then do you think?

He certainly is a well established journalist.
However, if he was in the running - I'd have thought that he would be presenting some bulletins for ITV at the moment. Bill Neely is more likely to be in this race than Tim.
