Well whoever gets his job, they are likely to become the first presenter in Britain to be paid over £1 million a year. Sir Trev currently gets £800.000 a year, he's hardly ever there !

It's tempting to be really cynical and suggest that they appoint someone who smiles all the time (in that cheesy "Have a nice day" fashion) and who looks really cute. But I won't. But then again I've given up with ITV news - I think the presentation is truly patronising.

You really shouldn't have a man as your flagship presenter when he can't even pronounce his own job title.

Bit of a random comment, but I really like Kay Burley on Sky News, and I think she would fit the 10.30 programme very well. She is very experienced, very professional and has the ITV News edge; accessible!
Nahhh.
If Sky goes all Fox Newsy, then Ms Burley is surely a top candidate to get her own personality-driven evening show. And I think she's probably a bit too brash -- even for ITV.
I reckon they'll give Mark Austin the 10:30 job. I think he's clearly the most obvious candidate, even though I'd much prefer Katie Derham to do it myself.
Then they might try to poach someone new to do the 6:30 news, perhaps someone from the BBC's "middle order" of male presenters - Darren Jordon, Bill Turnbull or Matthew Amroliwala perhaps?
I bet it will be Mark Austin who gets the top job. But I would like to see either Nicholas Owen, Alastair Stewart, Andrew Harvey or Bill Neely.
Has anyone else noticed whoever anchors the ITV1 10pm-11pm bulletins gets knighted - examples: Sir Alastair Burnet, Sir Trevor McDonald....
If ITN did accept my presenter choices, I think they would have chosen Bill seeing as he is 46, while Nick is 57, Andrew is 60 this year while Alastair is 52 - - - they will choose the youngest one they pick because if they choose a 60 year old, they will have to do this procedure again in a few years time.
Anyway, I would choose this:
Joint #1 = Andrew Harvey, Alastair Stewart, Nicholas Owen
#2 = Bill Neely
#3 Mark Webster
...........
#57 Sasha Herriman
I would choose Nick. He is someone everyone would know. Although I notice the lack of women in the contest. If they were to choose a woman I would go for Katie Derham.
