I wonder where the police statement currently being shown on Sky News (not live) is coming from. I think I can hear a helicopter in the background so it must be somewhere near Tottenham probably. Of course, it could just be from an office with noise air conditioning.

BBC not taking it they're sticking with an eye witness report with a reporter on the ground on the line.

The incident seems to be getting more intense, bless Deborah Macenzie for saying to the reporter 'we don't want you to get in any trouble'.

Lambeth probably as that's where Gold command is.

I believe that's where it is, it obviously wasn't a pooled piece.

I thought perhaps the BBC were going to show it after but now they're playing a phone interview with the same commander from earlier, so perhaps they don't have it.

Looks like Sky may try and go live on the ground again from this suggesting Tweet...

Heading back toward #Tottenham High Road to see how close we can get. Clocked near Retail Park and had to withdraw for our safety.

I'm sure they will use quotes from Sky's interview if anything new or interesting was said.

There should be some new footage on BBC News in the next half-hour or so - live footage is unlikely to be restored any time soon, but BBC camera crews were able to record video from various parts of the hot zone (not just from the camera position that Ben Ando and Andy Moore were stationed at) before being ordered to withdraw, and that VT is now being transferred (by vehicle rather than via satellite or 3G) for review and TX.

Are there no BBC teams anywhere in Tottenham at the moment - or are they in and around the 'safe' areas if there are any.

BBC News now showing the earlier interview shown on Sky News with the MET Commander.

Here's the moment when the Poor BBC team got attacked: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNC-rCAuZN8

I think the journo's on the ground have done really well in the circumstances.

As I understand it, the BBC have taken recommendations from the police and their own safety advisors to withdraw to a safe distance. There are additionally police cordon zones that cannot be breached by public or press (as heard in the phone two-way between Deborah and the local resident/journalist who wasn't able to proceed any further on foot), which the BBC clearly can't access anyway. I believe that all camera crews have now been fully withdrawn (though whether they've returned to base or to a 'safe distance', I don't know), but that some reporters remain in the general area - though still at a safe distance - to observe and provide information to TV and radio. However, I'm not 100% certain on those specific details, and I'd hope that if anyone has more concrete info, they'll correct me on that.

Clearly, however, there are limits to what information can be shared, as there are ongoing safety concerns for BBC staff on the ground.

These BBC pre-recorded programmes are intensely irritating. It's bad enough that coverage has to be fragmented due to World News simulcasts; breaking it up further with scheduled programming that 0% of viewers have tuned in to watch is inexcusable.

Interesting to hear that Sky's got new footage available; evidently, the estimates I heard on the BBC getting new footage up was a bit optimistic, but perhaps they'll have it ready from the TOTH. We'll see, I suppose.
