Incidentally - I'm surprised there's nothing on the BBC 159 page if the disturbance in Brum is close to/in the Mailbox.

They are a good few floors up from where the shops that were looted are, which are near the front entrance. I was denied entry to the Mailbox frontage by security shortly before the looting took place, and got in at the side, where people started running up escalators towards the back of the building (at the back you can only exit on the top floor) to get away from trouble at the front. People dived into restaurants which locked their doors but the trouble never reached the back of the building and seems to have been contained on the ground floor.

The public area of BBC Birmingham will have been closed for some hours by then.

Lukwesa Burak didn't make it then. Gillian Joseph is still on Sky News.

Oh, that's a shame, Lukwesa's great but I'm surprised she couldn't get from Ealing to Osterley, that's not far for a Londoner - 3 miles tops! I know the buses are a bit patchy because of the riots, but I'm sure she'll be there by 1.

Chris now suggesting that the reason that they have no pictures is due to the time it takes to move camera crews around London, hence the multitude of phone interviews. Sky seem to be staying put in Croydon.

Have either organisations issued statements about camera crew safety?

Sky's Mark Stone has been impressive tonight with his amateur footage.

Extraordinary footage as Mark Stone picks up flat screen TV's that have just been dumped on the street.

A rather distressed Sangita Myska on the phone on the BBC News Channel now in Clapham - or maybe she had been running and out of breath. Either way reports of evacuations in the area

One would assume now that the News channel will roll through the night, if they have the staffing. Either that or World are going to have to pick the coverage up at 1am.
