I really would question whoever thought it was a good idea to replace Jeremy Thompson with Ashish Joshi on Sky tonight. He seems half asleep, all over the place with guests names, asking bizarre questions ("Why do you feel unsafe there?" when a man has just told him he's seen a gang of hooded guys with bottles).
Even so, Sky News are completely excelling with their coverage. Its very gripping and all seems quite urgent where the BBC coverage seems, dare I say it, boring.
Looks like the Sky News helicopter has gone now. I wonder if they will bother sending it out again. It will pretty pointless soon, unless it has a night vision camera fitted.

Yes shortly after 9pm it started moving away from the that very large unattended fire (now being shown as 'latest pictures from Croydon' and you could see for quite a distance.

No need for night vision what with all the fire spreading across the city. They had the chopper out on the night of the student fees vote, using the street lights below to pick out areas of trouble in Oxford Street and the vicinity.
Bizarre scenes on CNN now with Dan Rivers with a helmet on the ground in Peckham in front of a supermarket where rioters are taking stuff out, breaking some of it... Now someone's throwing glass around them....
