Tony Morris has died

Reading the story about Tony's passing tonight has left me in shock.

I use to watch some of Tony's bulletins either when he was with Lucy Meacock or when he did the late bulletins on his own. He was a wonderful newsreader for that programme. took on the job with diligence & professionalism. Well done to all of the staff who did the tribute for Tony's passing. When Lucy cried at the end; I found it very emotional when I watched it. It left me in tears.

He will be greatly missed. RIP Tony

I have to say I found this and Dianne Oxberry's tribute last year pretty devastating to watch, more so that any bigger 'celebrity' death. I don't especially remember actively tuning in to watch regional news growing up but regional news teams were definitely big, local characters that you really grew to know as a child and, having lived away from the North West for 8 years now, watching these tributes really does feel like an odd reconnection to home, but also like big part of my childhood has gone forever which makes it all the more sadder.

Same here - I’m in Edinburgh now but both deaths just brought it all flooding back.
