Anybody who has access to a huge embargo would have to be putting their job on the line to release or rumour it. Probably not worth the risk.
the very fact that this page has reaches Page 7, and that there are 200 users online suggests that people are noticing things out of the ordinary.
If the person who we *may* soon be getting a report on is "nearing death" then it may well be the morning before we hear anything.
Although the Queen Mother was seriously ill for the last few hours, and people knew that she was going to die that day, the news was not released untill she had actually passed.
And perhaps they have sent the information to the news channels in advance, with an embargo, to prevent another incident ala. Peter Sissons.

Why should I be last to know?

Unfortunately, no. They don't have to do any such thing. Especially *if* anyone major has expired, they can take as long as they like until the embargo gets lifted. Until all necessary plans are in place, they can keep Joe Public completely in the dark for as long as they see fit.

Well TOny Benn was admited to hospital during the Labour conference, but never heard any more about it, so I assume he recovered.
Yes, he was given a pacemaker
Of course it could be the Pope.... oh, no hang on a sec....
Ah, but remember Pope John Paul I - he didn't last long, did he? So, you never know... Pope Whatsit is getting on a bit himself, after all.
