I would imagine that any embargo would be lifted either in time for the 10 tonight or first thing tomorrow morning, to kick off the news day with Breaking News
Just a thaught though, if it is a royal it is likely that they have not actualy died yet, and have just been reported as "close to death" or "seriously ill", and there is an embaro until information on their condition has become more clear.

embargoes are to protect the dead persons family - not to suit tv news programmes.
If a royal was seriously unwell, wouldn't the BBC and ITV break their current programmes to Break the news. Same scenario with John Paul 2nd. I doubt they would leave it. The only thing is if they're not 100% Sure
Well TOny Benn was admited to hospital during the Labour conference, but never heard any more about it, so I assume he recovered.
Yes, he was given a pacemaker
He handed me the chair he'd been sitting on a couple of minutes before he collapsed.
Whilst his death would certainly get extensive coverage, I don't think he would warrant a full-scale obit procedure, would he? Certainly not more so that the recent deaths of former PMs Callaghan and Heath, which although they dominated the news channels and bulletins for 24 hours or so, didn't lead to any changes to programming, senior presenters called in or suchlike.
