I'd have thought by now if it was false an insider would have read this by now and advised presenters not to wear black. Or prehaps they have read this and are telling presenters to wear black, just to keep us all guessing.

Or maybe just laugh, and everyone goes on as normal. Male presenters almost always wear a black or dark blue jacket, and women presenters are usually in something dark. Don't believe that anything in the real world will be influenced by speculation on here.

If anyone is still in any doubt, THERE"S NOTHING IN IT!!!!! There is no big story. There is no embargo. It's a coincidence, and probably not that unusual. Trust me.

And before anyone jumps in, there was no big advance yesterday evening on Ronnie Barker. It's very sad news though.....

Although, I was suprised that they did go the whole hog on the Barker story on the news summary. It's not even top story on news online.

I also think its just one of these things. A mean if anything has happened we would have heard of it by now.

No guesses though what we'll all be watching at Lunchtime again Rolling Eyes

So, comments like ''Dermot is all in black'' this morning... DM is wearing a black suit, a white shirt, and a purple/pink tie. Some people appear to have eyesight difficulties.

A tie can be changed very quickly! He may have one under the desk ready. Can be put on while they play the somber version of the national anthem, or during Tia-Chi.

Right, Moz, so by those standards we would have one of these threads all the time, wouldn't we.

Newsreaders do tend to wear 'serious' clothes. I think there'd be more curiosity if one of them turned up to read the Six O'Clock News in a swimsuit rather than dark clothing.

Yes, it is odd, there was a lot of 'dark' clothing yesterday, but for crying out loud, it's not the Clothes Show.

No, because it's unusual for the female presenters on every channel to be in black. My point was that the only exceptions to the blackness were ties, which can easily be changed.

Perhaps it was a bit of a coincidence, but you have to admit it was strange.

Is it though? or is it just something nobody has ever noticed before?

I would have thaught if nothing was happening an isider would have told us that we were barking up the wrong bush by now.... perhaps it is just a slowly developing story, in which case we could be waiting for days.

PLEASE! If we are wrong, could an insider put us right. Thanks.

Out of interest how are presenters informed of the need to wear sombre occasions? Do they enter the newsroom in their normal clothes and then get changed or do they take a guess that sombre clothes would be appropriate?

Mate, it's pretty clear now it's either connected to Ronnie Barker's death or a strange coincidence.
