Dermot and Natasha on Breakfast, as well as the presenter of the ITV Morning News are all also in black.
Moira however, relegated her black blouse to be only just visible under a bright red jacket.
Riz Latiff on BBC LDN is also in sombre colours.
The trend has been well and truly bucked though by Andrew Castle and Penny Smith on GMtv, both of whom are in bright colours. And Lucy Hockings over on BBC World is in pink-ish something.
Dharshini David is, however, in very regal sombre royal purple.
Naaah, it's far too much to be a coincidence, mate. Even if there turns out to be no "story", you were right to start this thread as too many anchors were dressed not only in black but in sombre plain clothes.
The woman doing ITV Morning News this morning also looks like she's attending a funeral - plain black jacket, white top and dignified gold necklace.
Kaplinsky's in pure black, and this is a Breakfast show for heaven's sake - hardly a normal colour to wear.
AND the woman reading the regional Granada News slot on GMTV is in black.
As for the GMTV presenters, it's most probably the case that any embargo is due to be lifted after their shift is over.
Well both BBC, and ITV News Channel presenters appear to be wearing black this morning. Not sure about Sky News as at the moment it's only the sports presenter.
I'd have thought by now if it was false an insider would have read this by now and advised presenters not to wear black. Or prehaps they have read this and are telling presenters to wear black, just to keep us all guessing.
Moira however, relegated her black blouse to be only just visible under a bright red jacket.
That's because if the embargo was lifted, she would no longer be on-air, just DM and NK
the biggest hint is NK in black... not ften we see that! ?Usually pink.... we can safely say something is going on, or they are just having a laugh at us!
I want to know what people's definition of ''black'' is on here, please.
Having read the thread yesterday, I was vaguely convinced, but I hadn't watched a single news bulletin other than Channel 4 (where they were all in technicolour), so wasn't 100%.
So, comments like ''Dermot is all in black'' this morning... DM is wearing a black suit, a white shirt, and a purple/pink tie. Some people appear to have eyesight difficulties.
NK is wearing a black skin-tight shirt with sequins. Very respectful.
I would agree there is a SLIGHTLY disproportionate number of people wearing ''sombre'' outfits - the sign language man on News 24 is in black tie, for instance. But really, I'm not sure where people are getting all this from.
Half the presenters supposedly in black/sombre attire are wearing the sort of thing that you'd expect a newsreader to wear anyway. Come off it.

A tie can be changed very quickly! He may have one under the desk ready. Can be put on while they play the somber version of the national anthem, or during Tia-Chi.
