Quite possibly, but as previous posters have said embargos can be any length of time.

Just remember, if this turns out to be true, will take time to break. There are procedures to follow.

just managed to catch a bit of five news update. Kirsty was still in black but did say that the next news was at 11.30 tomorrow morning. If they did know of a breaking story would that have been said?

Nothing special if there is an embargo. As they try to act as normally as possible, and normal for FIVE is news at 11:30 am.

Supicous at the time but looks like as if everything has just about when back to normal. Only the Women presenter in Sky news is wearing a Black Blouse

The problem appears to be distinguishing between people who are wearing black due to 'obituary dress' and people who are wearing black just because its a good on-screen colour.

Well you may be right, but a news blackout could last hours if there is one in place. Its probably too soon to say for certain. And if it is nothing, then it was indeed an odd coincidence.

By the way, are any of our forum members from the media able to state if there is "something" going on? I realise that they can't elaborate, but would hinting that there is or isn't anything going on, go against the hypothetical court order that could be in place?

Yes but Sky Sports News maybe doing that due to the ill health of George Best....Although he is improving. If any indication at all we should have something at the 10 o clock News

Certainly I would have expected one of them to come online and say if there was NOTHING going on.

I'm affraid to say even that could jeperdise a job and possible action. A news blackout is exactly that. A Blackout.

Look I really don't think anything is going on. OK so some people are wearing black, but I think this is really being exaggerated - people aren't wearing black ties or complete black and white.

If someone was about to die, it's quite likely that we would have been told about their ill-health or entry to hospital. The only news story we've had relating to this in any way is George Best, and newsreaders would not put black ties on especially for George Best (unelss they're all avid football fans).

I think it can safely be said that everyone is over-reacting to a small coincidence that has been blown out of proportion by some members here.

I don't think this is a false alarm, because Jeff Stelling, presenting live Championship football on Sky Sports is also in black.

Well he won't be mourning Hartlepool United (his team). They won on Saturday.

Clearly there is SOMETHING... we will just have to sit, wait, and speculate until we know what that something is!
