.............faints.................thud!
Back on topic - what about Juliette Foster? I saw her again on Sky last night and vividly remember her excellent handling of the Boxing Day Tsunami. She is far better than the likes of Sheila Jansen and even Anna Botting, who has primetime every evening.

How could you
Anna Botting is just *fab*.
And I assume high profile news anchors, Huw, Natasha etc.. just have days off, rather than do any office work.

I was watching Sky the other day and they were doing an interview from Westminster . Adam Boulton was walking around pointing at his colleagues and talking, while all the time, stuffing his face with a large sandwich!!

I was watching CNN the other night, and the on duty anchor was Fiounnala Sweeney.
Sitting behind her in the newsroom, hammering away on a computer keyboard, was fellow anchor, Becky Anderson, who did not appear on screen at all that night.
So, my guess is that off-duty newscasters are assigned office duties / production duties / something......

Juliette Foster - Sky News.
She is, very simply, truly excellent.

You are, very simply, truly SO WRONG!
She is wooden, humourless, unable to adlib, biz-obsesed.
Granted she is a good interviewer, but I just think Sky is the wrong place for her.
She has no personality; for a station that is very much led by its presenting team she is in the wrong job.

In my opinion, Darshini David should definitely be promoted. I have not seen her on BBC World for a few weeks, but her relaxed style is a breath of fresh air. She always manages to sound as if she is interested in what she is saying, even when it is just business numbers. There are not many newsreaders who manage to talk in a conversational tone and still sound professional.

Fiounnalla (sp?) anchors World News Europe on a daily basis. It goes out at 9pm and 10 pm London time, so is hence a bulletin targetted at the European audience. She also presents some lifestyle programmes, as well as on-the-spot anchoring of live events.
I would say she equates to Lyse Doucet and Zeinab Badawi of BBC World.
On a terrestrial / network comparison, she is probably on a pegging par with Sophie Raworth / Katie Derham, although Rolling News (and CNN in particular) is incredibly difficult to compare with terrestrial tv, so this assimilation is not entirely accurate.
Or a Kay Burley. Or a Jane Hill.
