BBC team at Downing Street have just been told to turn off their camera by police. Any reason for this?

Well, the man who was just arrested was outside the MoD- that's just opposite the gates to Downing Street.

That hasn't stopped Sky, obviously...

Sky News just showed live pictures of the police pointing a gun at a man dressed in dark clothing outside the MOD. He was then led away. His shirt was open as if they had searched him.

News 24 have just shown similar pictures (not live) as well.

This off the BBC News website is just class:

Quote:
Police said armed officers had been deployed to University College Hospital after an incident. A large area was cordoned off.

There were reports a memo had been circulated to staff to look out for a 6ft 2in black or Asian man with wires sticking out of his top.

As is - and now removed from - Channel 4 News:

Quote:
Police and transport authorities in Central London are advising people to stay where you are. If you are on a bus or underground train, do not leave it unless you need to do so. This may be at specific stops. Some of the major rail companies are ferrying passengers out of the capital to safe designated points such as Watford Junction, Clapham and Hove.
