Reconfirmed by the man himself: Simon King is leaving Telly forecasting to be the permanent forecaster for Radio Five Live at Salford.
Looked good on the tv, he did.

Could crop up on Breakfast then, I suppose not the end of his TV career.

Does this mean the Met Office will have a number of staff based pernamently at Media City? Is a dedicated forecaster for Five Live the best use of resource vs the current setup? I don't know how it is at present.

Surely that depends on whether Breakfast uses Salford-based or London-based forecasters. Otherwise there's the same chance he'd appear on CBBC (Newsround or Blue Peter) as there is him on Breakfast.

Does Ceefax still exist? Does that page 888 still provide subtitles?
We need them in Worldland: Matt Taylor is totally lost on many overseas viewers. I am sitting here once again in the UAE with my family members, where English is not their FIRST language, and none of them understood a single word of Matt's delivery. The accent is too broad and the delivery is just too fast.
BBC needs to bear that in mind when putting heavily accented presenters on screen. Granted, all of us from the UK region will understand him perfectly. But BBC World's audience is not limited to the British Isles!

Catch it, someone. I like Liam. Nice guy. He's on with Martine Croxall I think, for his last shift.

Yeah, think that was this morning.

It seems he only got two appearances on the News Channel today - at 1030 and 1059. Martine did say a brief goodbye at 1030, but the second was rather brief.
Unless he did anything on World, it seems his last shout was on Radio 4, just before 1pm; you can hear the end here.
