Shame they can't put little Laura on the weekday evenings.

Hardly see her, as I'm busy with other things.

Only caught her by chance today as I've been off.

She was on on Monday evening.

Not for long though! Sad

I did notice when I checked my TOTP 730 showing last night, she was doing the BBC FOUR weather. Had she been on BBC WORLD earlier?

Isn't the BBC Four weather pre-recorded from the late morning/early afternoon NC presenter who does the One? I don't know why it is the case though..

Yes, Westy, Laura Tobin was indeed on BBC World earlier yesterday. We've also had quite a bit of Philip Avery recently too, as well as Simon King and, at this very moment, Peter Gibbs.

I can't detect any particular pattern as such, other than noting that Elizabeth Saary has been on for the last few weekends.

Who are the current BBC WORLD Weather presenters then?

We seem to be getting mainly men on the UK service, John Hammond, Matt Taylor, Liam Dutton, spring to mind, while the only regular woman I see is Carol Kirkwood on Breakfast, other than that, based on the 555am bulletin, I've seen as one offs recently, Louise Lear, Laura, Liz Sarry, Susan Powell.

Are certain presenters favoured by the UK service? (And I do know there's other BBC outlets too!)

By the way, if Laura's a popular choice with us fellers, how about Kaye Forster, as I've seen her as the 'Breakfast cover' on the Midlands Today bulletins?

Kaye Forster filled in on North West Tonight for a few months earlier this year. She was actually very good and probably more suited to a national broadcast compared to a more light-hearted regional news programme.

All the BBC weather presenters appear on BBC World, usually in a random manner. There doesn't appear to be a roster as such. The only one that we don't get any more is Carol Kirkwood.

Mainstays are Susan Powell, Simon King, Peter Gibbs, Laura Tobin and Louise Lear, as far as I can detect. As noted in my post above, Elizabeth Saary has done the last few weekends. And we are seeing less and less of Matt Taylor which, as noted by me several pages ago, isn't such a bad thing for the international viewer. His accent is too broad for the average Chinese to understand!

Phil Avery has been on quite a lot in the last few weeks as well.

Yes, but I thought he was dropped back in January along with Rob McElwee and Thomaz Schafanakeraker (sp) ?

Tomasz Schafernaker Wink And yes, Phil Avery seems to be the only one who has returned - he's been on the NC a couple of times and from what BBC WORLD says, seems to be a regular on World now.

I can't tell you how much I miss Tomasz on TV. He doesn't Facebook nearly enough either.

Tomasz decided to leave the Met Office by mutual consent anyway, and he has been a free soul since the end of the the last financial-year.

Well he has several projects lined up-- but I've been sworn to secrecy by my sources for now. As I'm sure many will know, too many telly project meetings lead to nothing as it is, so I don't want to 'tempt fate'.

That's also the reason he hasn't been doing much Fbk, nothing to report at present. But I'm sure he will have in due course, so watch that space Cool

TBH, I'm not really looking for promotional fluff about programmes he might be in that I would seek out anyway.

Just some periodic trivial commentary would be nice.

I hardly need explain this to you. Wink
